What your vote helps create

Neighbourhoods with the highest participation will be selected to launch the first Resilient Neighbourhood Networks (RNNs).

The networks help neighbours:

  • Build stronger local connections
  • Share practical safety and preparedness information
  • Support one another through community‑led activities

Your vote helps:

  • Decide which neighbourhoods participate first
  • Guide how neighbourhood safety and connection initiatives roll out
  • Build stronger, more connected, and better‑supported communities

A resilient neighbourhood is one where people feel connected, informed, and supported, and where neighbours know how to respond together when challenges arise.

RNNs help neighbourhoods:

  • Build stronger relationships with neighbours, local groups and businesses
  • Learn and share practical skills related to safety, preparedness and local supports
  • Stay informed about what's happening in the community
  • Shape gatherings, learning opportunities, and neighbourhood priorities

Neighbourhoods with strong participation will be selected for the first phase Selected communities will begin working together through RNNs Results and next steps will be shared at the launch event

Getting involved can be as simple as voting, attending an event, or connecting with your neighbours.

As Resilient Neighbourhood Networks grow, there will be opportunities to take part in ways that work for you, whether that’s sharing ideas, joining activities, or helping shape what happens in your community.

You can:

  • Share ideas to improve safety, connection, and preparedness
  • Help shape activities and neighbourhood priorities
  • Take part in free, accessible learning opportunities
  • Get to know neighbours and build local connections

No experience is needed, just an interest in being part of your community.

Everyone has a role to play in building a stronger neighbourhood. Participation is open to:

  • Langley City residents
  • Community groups and non-profits
  • Local businesses and business associations
  • Service providers and grassroots initiatives
  • Faith, cultural, education, and neighbourhood-based organizations

How we're also investing in community safety

We’re building a city where everyone feels safe, supported, and connected by investing in:
  • connected neighbourhoods
  • emergency response (Fire, RCMP, Bylaws)
  • safer public spaces
  • vibrant community events
  • basic infrastructure

Open the tabs below to learn more ways we’re investing in community safety.

Emergency Response

Strengthening our emergency response and support

To improve support during emergencies, here's how we are investing in community safety:
  • More RCMP

Since 2022, we've hired five RCMP officers for a safer, more resilient Langley City.

  • More firefighters

We’ve strengthened our Fire Rescue Services by hiring nine firefighters since 2022.

  • New firefighting equipment

We've invested $6.1 million in updated emergency and firefighting equipment.

  • More Bylaws

We’re working closely with local partners and increasing patrols to keep parks and properties safe.

New firefighting equipment

We've updated the firefighting and rescue fleet with three new trucks since 2025.
  • Squad-1

This Ford F-550, smaller than regular fire engines and mainly for medical emergencies, still has a full fire pump like larger engines and basic firefighting gear.

  • Engine-1

This replaces an older unit and helps ensure continued reliability and safety for our firefighters and the community.

  • Tower-1

This highly specialized fire truck lets our firefighters safely reach higher floors and respond to larger, more complex incidents
