Making neighbourhoods safer, together

We're investing in community safety by helping make neighbourhoods safer, together. Through resilient neighbourhood networks, we are forming a volunteer design and action team. This group will help build safer neighbourhoods by hosting community-led events, strengthening connections between neighbours, and improving access to emergency preparedness information and City services.

Thank you to everyone who applied to volunteer to support this initiative.

A resilient neighbourhood is one where people feel connected, informed, and supported, and where neighbours know how to respond together when challenges arise.

RNNs help neighbourhoods:

  • Build stronger relationships with neighbours, local groups and businesses
  • Learn and share practical skills related to safety, preparedness and local supports
  • Stay informed about what's happening in the community
  • Shape gatherings, learning opportunities, and neighbourhood priorities

Strong, connected neighbourhoods grow when residents are directly involved. By joining an RNN, you can:

  • Share ideas to improve safety, connection, and preparedness
  • Help shape the activities, tools, and supports for your area
  • Take part in free, accessible training that builds community-building skills

Your lived experience matters. Your voice helps shape how RNNs grow across Langley City.

Participation is welcome from:

  • Langley City residents
  • Community groups and non-profits
  • Local businesses and business associations
  • Service providers and grassroots initiatives
  • Faith, cultural, education, and neighbourhood-based organizations

No prior experience is needed – just an interest in strengthening community connections.

Community safety is our top priority.

We’re building a city where everyone feels safe, supported, and connected by investing in:
  • emergency response (Fire, RCMP, Bylaws)
  • safer public spaces

  • New firefighting equipment

We've invested $6.1 million in updated emergency and firefighting equipment.
